About the
Artist
Malibu
Tile Works is owned and operated by long-time Malibu resident
and artist, Janine Waldbaum. Janine has been involved with many
areas of arts and crafts for most of her life. She studied water
color techniques and interior and environmental design at UCLA,
with a particular interest in surface design and ornamentation.
Her varied artistic interests seemed to meld when she first experimented
with creating tiles for use in her own home. From that moment
on - designing and creating art tiles has been a passion. Her
home and studio were destroyed in the 1993 Malibu fire - but
she has since re-established her studio near the original site.

- Janine enjoys living
and working in the beautiful ocean-side community of Malibu,
California with her children, Colin and Hannah. Janine and her
family are very much involved in the Malibu community. Janine's
love of tile and particular interest in the work of the Malibu
Potteries - inspired her to become a docent at the Adamson House/Malibu
Lagoon Museum. Her work can often be found at auction and fundraising
events to benefit the Malibu schools that her children attend.
Janine loves having direct and personal contact with her clients
- and strives to make sure her clients enjoy the design process;
and will do everything possible to make sure the job is completed
to the client's total satisfaction.
